Our story

CARE was founded in October 2006 by Cindy Mininni. She dedicated her life to helping animals in need but sadly passed away in October 2012. Her life's work continues.

Our mission

Companion Animal Rescue Effort (CARE) is devoted to the welfare of cats and is involved in such initiatives as:

  • rescuing, transporting, and vetting stray and abandoned cats;

  • placing non-feral cats into foster care to be socialized;
  • securing a caretaker to provide for feral cats;
  • finding permanent adoptive homes for cats that are social and healthy;
  • providing sanctuary for cats that are not adoptable due to temperament and/or health issues;
  • picking up pet food and pet supplies, donated or otherwise, from businesses, like-mandated organizations, and the public; and
  • transporting pet food and pet supplies to foster homes, like-mandated organizations, and pet owners with pet food insecurities.

We are a volunteer-run organization and depend solely on public and private donations to fund our programs.

There is no shelter facility at this time, rather, we run exclusively on a network of foster homes.
